The rumor of a new encounter between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is very much true. Yes, it was obvious that the rematch clause existed and, yes, everyone thought that it would be exercised, but when a legend speaks of the matter, you can pretty much sign it.
Bob Arum has recently talked about this, and it is closer to be a reality, as he was asked in the talkSPORT Boxing YouTube channel.
“Well, there’s a rematch and Tyson has exercised the rematch, that fight will take place sometime either at the end of the year or the beginning and next year and it will take place again.,” Arum said.
After Oleksandr Usyk beat Tyson Fury on a split decision, it is set that the Ukrainian will have another before the rematch, however it is still a few months away.
“That’s the contract that both fighters have signed, so let you know it was such a great fight and its such a controversial fight, a lot of people thought Tyson pulled it out,” he explained. “Some people thought it was deserved the win that he got so let’s see what happens in the rematch, I think there’ll be a lot of interest.”
Why the undisputed champion could keep the IBF title
The International Boxing Federation (IBF) president has said that Oleksandr Usyk has the right as a champion to request a temporary exemption from the mandatory defense of the title against Filip Hrgovic.
From the Ukrainian boxer’s camp has said that Usyk will request for that just before the deadline.
