The Milwaukee Bucks and free agent center Brook Lopez agreed to a two-year, $48 million deal on Sunday for the big man to remain with the franchise and one day later they added his twin brother, Robin Lopez, leading some to believe he’s getting the “Giannis treatment.”
Robin, 35, agreed Monday to an undiclosed deal with Milwaukee to reunite with his brother once again, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Brook, 35, has become one of the best defensive big men in the league, but is also a threat on the offensive end, especially due to his long-distance shooting.
He could have likely received a better offer from other teams across the league, leading some to believe that adding Robin was a condition for him to stay.
Giannis Antetokounmpo famously told the Bucks he would only play for them if they let his family tag along. In fact, older brother Thanasis still plays in Milwaukee despite a limited role.
Is Robin Lopez still good?
Robin averaged eight minutes per game in 37 matches played for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season and shot a career-best 50 percent from deep, albeit on just a couple attempts.
He also played for the Orlando Magic one year prior, but hasn’t had starter minutes in nearly since his days with the Chicago Bulls.
Robin joined his brother in Milwaukee for one season after leaving Chicago, but it was short lived.
They can now go back to living together, and if it all works out, the Bucks now have the center position completely covered.
