David and Victoria Beckham and Stanley Tucci will attend a distinguished dinner at the private residence of King Charles III, on behalf of the United Kingdom as they pursue diplomatic relations with Italy.
The event, which saw a gathering of multiple notable figures such as the fashion designer Donatella Versace, was held to mark the King and Queen’s upcoming State Visits to the Holy See and Italy.
The dinner also celebrated sustainable food and fashion, embodying the principles of the Slow Food and Slow Fashion movements.
Beckham, an ex-soccer star who played for Real Madrid and AC Milan, was appointed an ambassador for the King’s Foundation last year and has formed a close bond with the monarch, particularly through their shared passion for bee-keeping and countryside life.
The Beckhams Cotswolds estate, located just 30 minutes from Highgrove, has made it convenient for him to attend private consultations with King Charles and to be a key liaison with other international figures.
The evening’s reception, held in a marquee in the estate’s gardens, was a feast for the senses, offering an array of canapes, including Yorkshire Pecorino Cheese Puffs and Tuscan-style Pate. Guests sipped the King’s own Highgrove Sparkling Wine, along with dinner in the Orchard Room.
The meal was created by world-renowned Chef Francesco Mazzei, who drew inspiration from Tucci’s, The Heart of Italy show, and aimed to showcase the best of British produce with Italian culinary flair.
Mazzei highlighted the use of local, seasonal ingredients, aligning with the Slow Food movement, which advocates for the consumption of regional plants, seeds, and livestock.
“This is my first time cooking for the King. I’m quite excited about that,” Mazzei said to the DailyMail.com.
His menu, featuring dishes such as Scottish Crab Panzanella and Suffolk Red Porchetta, used ingredients sourced across the UK, from Isle of Wight tomatoes to Kentish cob nuts.
