Queen Camilla revealed she and her grandchildren tend to visit the Great Western Hospital in Swindon as she gave a touching speech whilst launching the new emergency department in the British town, but admitted she hasn’t been there since she was 30.
The wife of King Charles III continued her public duties after a scare with a chest infection towards the end of 2024, as the 77-year-old launched the new site which had over 41 million dollars invested.
And feeling the power and emotion of the moment, the British Royal Family matriarch explained her own personal connection to the institution as she recalled her first-hand experience of how good the staff are.
“I was thinking about it, and I probably haven’t been inside this hospital for 47 years,” Camilla said, as per thedailymail.com. “Since I had my daughter. So that was a few years ago.
“But I really wanted to congratulate everybody who has done such a brilliant job with this place, and everyone who is working here.”
“I do know from first-hand experience the difference you are making to this part of the country. So congratulations to you all. Thank you.
“I am so impressed by this A&E. I have had very good feedback because I have had friends who come here and grandchildren who have been here on several occasions.
“I quite often get pictures saying, ‘Guess where I am? Back in the A&E in Swindon,’ so I know it quite well.”
Who are Queen Camilla’s children?
King Charles III is not Camilla‘s first husband, despite them always having a close relationship since initially meeting and dating 55 years ago in 1970, until the relationship had to end when Charles went to the Royal Navy.
In the meantime, Camilla met Andrew Parker Bowles and the pair married in 1973. They had two children together named Tom (1974) and Laura (1978). Tom is now a food writer and has two children of his own, whilst Laura is married with three children.
Camilla and her husband eventually divorced in 1995, a year before Charles divorced Princess Diana and 10 years before he married Camilla. Her children and grandchildren were present at her coronation in 2023.
