Former NBA center DeMarcus Cousins came out with some controversial opinions as he talked to Kevin Garnett on SHOWTIME Basketball.
DeMarcus Cousins is now a free agent after being released by the Denver Nuggets who opted not to renew his contract last year.
The 32-year-old has turned his back on an NBA return for now as he signs for a Puerto Rican team.
Cousins was heavily linked with a move to the Taiwanese league where 37 year old former Los Angeles Laker, Dwight Howard, currently plays.
He shone between 2010 and 2018 averaging 25 points per game with the Sacramento Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans.
Cousins makes a bold statement
The NBA outcast spoke out about how he rates himself in comparison with other centers in the league.
“I’m currently the third best center in the league, no doubt. Yeah man, right now I’m the third best interior player in the NBA,” he said to show host Kevin Garnett.
DeMarcus maintained that only Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid are currently better than him out of all current NBA centers.
Cousins considers himself to be a better center than the likes of NBA stars Karl-Anthony Towns, Bam Adebayo and Anthony Davis.
Cousins sustained an injury to his achilles which marked the beginning of the end for the center who was one of the biggest prospects of the decade.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Cousins has signed with the Guaynabo Mets of the Puerto Rico Professional Basketball League.
The 32-year-old center will play there this spring in an attempt to pave his way back to the NBA.
