Prince William plans to integrate Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie‘s children into the British Royal Family more when he becomes the reigning monarch upon the death of his father, King Charles III.
The 75-year-old King has been battling cancer throughout 2024 and into 2025, meaning William has becoming increasingly privy to long-term decisions on behalf of the family in case he has to ascend sooner rather than later.
As a result, the Prince of Wales has already made some strategic decisions and according to reports, that includes bringing Princess Louise and Prince James into the public eye more. That’s despite their parents refusing them the His/Her Royal Highness titles.
The snub on behalf of the 21-year-old and 17-year-old was not a rejection of the family, but came with the intention of allowing the youngsters a more ‘normal’ childhood. Now into, and almost into, adulthood that is set to change.
“We try to bring them up with the understanding they are very likely to have to work for a living,” Sophie told the Sunday Times Magazine in 2020. “Hence we made the decision not to use HRH titles. They have them and can decide to use them from 18, but I think it’s highly unlikely.”

The Scottish Daily Express claims the 42-year-old William will give them another shot at stepping into the Royal fold. They will earn public funding but in exchange must represent the Crown at events and engagements.
It could perhaps be a bid to replace the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit as working members of the family in 2020. Relations between William and his brother have soured so much he is thought to be banned from allowing them back.
However, there is uncertainty regarding the decision of Prince Edward‘s children. Louise, who is 16th in the line of succession, denied the HRH title again at the age of 18 and it’s likely that James, 15th in line and ahead of his older sister due to a now-defunct law, may also reject the honor.
