Porn star Emily Willis suffered permanent brain damage while being treated at a rehab center, so the actress’ family is suing the clinic where she was found unconscious, after going to the place for treatment for her ketamine addiction.
The Summit Malibu recovery treatment center and its parent company Malibu Lighthouse Treatment Centers allegedly committed adult abuse, negligence and illegal, unfair or fraudulent business practices that resulted in Willis’ vegetative state, according to court records seen by The Post.
The 26-year-old, whose real name is Litzy Lara Bañuelos, entered the rehabilitation center for her addiction to the dissociative anesthetic, of which she took 5 to 6 grams per day, her family explained.

Emily Willis’ family lawsuit
Yesenia Lara Cooper, Willis’ mother, guardian and plaintiff in the lawsuit, allegedly noted that the adult film star appeared underweight, weighing 100 pounds (45.3 kgs), but claims that a consultation with a dietitian was never performed.
Cooper filed the lawsuit against Malibu Lighthouse Treatment Centers on December 27, 2024, in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The Post reported that Willis was suffering from several health problems when he was admitted to the health center on January 27, 2024, including bladder inflammation, night terrors, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, according to the lawsuit obtained by The Mirror US.
The actress’ health allegedly deteriorated while she was in the private treatment center where she developed a urinary tract infection, became dehydrated and began to suffer severe pain.
Willis was denied medical attention on several occasions during his stay at the rehabilitation center.
Her family claims that staff did not provide her with “safe conditions or adequate care” because she qualified as a “dependent adult”, which goes against the centre’s admission policies.
Willis remained in the facility for just over a week until a nurse found her unconscious on February 4, 2024, The Mirror US reported.
The nurse called 911 and began performing CPR.
The paramedics who arrived performed CPR for 30 to 40 minutes until they got his heartbeat back, but Willis was left in a coma due to the prolonged lack of oxygen.
The lawsuit also alleges that staff left her unattended for “excessively long periods of time,” which led to her being found unconscious.
“If staff had followed standard medical protocols, Emily would have had the opportunity to regain control of her life,” the lawsuit alleges. “No patient should ever be subjected to such a horrendous breakdown in clinical care. Her health was ignored until it was too late and now her life is changed forever.”

Emily’s lifelong condition
Willis suffered a heart attack 26 hours after her collapse, which left her in a vegetative state.
The staff’s negligence left Willis with “irreversible brain damage, permanent physical and mental disability, pain and emotional distress, among other damages,” his family added.
She suffers from the rare neurological disorder “locked-in syndrome” which has left her completely paralysed except for the use of her eyes.
She is also unable to communicate and is being cared for in a nursing home in Utah.
