On Monday night, the latest player to be named the best in the world will receive the Ballon d’Or trophy in Paris along with their male counterpart. This year sees 30 of the best players around the globe nominated for the Ballon d’Or, all hoping to take home the prestigious award.

The front runners are FC Barcelona duo Aitana Bonmati and Caroline Graham Hansen with the former picking up the award last year. US fans will be hopeful that the “Triple Espresso” Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith and Mallory Swanson will have their fine seasons reflected in the vote, with the latter most likely to trouble the upper echelons of the rankings.

Due to conflicts with the international schedule in the women’s game, several high-profile names, including the USWNT head coach Emma Hayes nominated for best coach, will not be present.

The Sporting News will be updating once the 2024 awards are announced.
