Lando Norris is passionate about sports cars, as is the case with all Formula 1 drivers. But, unlike what happens with Carlos Sainz, for example, who has a devotion to current models and has a Ferrari Daytona SP3 as his latest acquisition (840 hp and around 2.5 million euros), the McLaren driver likes classic cars. And not just any classic, but especially those that only multimillionaires can buy because their prices start at seven digits.
He has recently been seen driving a dark blue Lamborghini Miura around Monaco. But the one he has been seen in most recently is a red Ferrari F40, which stands out from the rest of the Monegasque F40s because Norris’ car does not have the original wheels.
A very ‘brave’ model
Now that car is not in its best moment after it ended up crashing into the guardrail of a Monegasque road. The car was apparently driving at a quiet pace, perhaps in second gear, when it suddenly began to go off the rear axle. It was well known that the F40, with 478 hp, was a very ‘brave’ model and that the entry of its two turbos without traction control made it almost a racing car.
But it is surprising that it all happens on dry asphalt and that the driver is not able to correct the car’s drift by counter-steering (or at least, that he tries to do so). Luckily, it does not go against the oncoming cars and the result is a rear impact against the guardrail that ends up breaking the rear lower section of its bodywork.
Who was driving?
When his driver rejoins the road, this time in the opposite direction to then pull over to the hard shoulder, he passes in front of the camera and doubts arise: is it Lando Norris who is driving?
From the images, it seems to be someone young who fits his physical profile. However, it would be almost impossible, except for a major blunder, for one of the best drivers in the world to lose control of a Ferrari F40 in such favorable conditions. So we tend to think that it is a person he trusts who was driving it on that occasion. Of course, after having returned the crashed F40, perhaps he is no longer so trustworthy.
