Actors Richard Gere and Sylvester Stallone appeared in only one film together: ‘The Lords of Flatbush’, in 1974. The filming ended their relationship and the feud, 50 years later, still persists. The protagonist of ‘Rocky’ or ‘Rambo’, among other productions, had to shoot a fight scene with the actor of ‘Pretty Woman’.
Stallone told Ain’t it cool News: “He crossed the line. He grabbed me and I told him, calmly, to calm down. Anyway, he was completely into the character and it was impossible to deal with him.” The actor also criticised Gere’s attitude: “He strutted around in his biker jacket as if he were the toughest.”
Chicken with mustard
The relationship was not the best between the two. However, Richard Gere‘s attitude during the filming of the fight was not the trigger. The real cause of their enmity is none other than a mustard chicken. The two actors were eating a sandwich in a car and Stallone warned Gere that his mustard chicken looked like it was dripping. He urged him to be careful.
Despite everything, Richard Gere‘s sandwich splashed on the protagonist of ‘Rambo’. “I elbowed him in the head and got him out of the car,” Stallone recalled. The situation was unsustainable and the director had to choose between one of the two, as coexistence was impossible during filming. Finally, Richard Gere was the one who had to say goodbye to the film. Perry King took his place.
They both fought over Diana, Princess of Wales
“To this day he hates me,” Stallone commented. Rumor has it that the two actors met at a party hosted by Elton John in 1999. At that event was Diana, Princess of Wales, and the woman caught the attention of ‘Rambo’ and Gere, something that ended in a violent conflict in which the singer’s boyfriend had to intervene.
