The failed podcast venture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was partly hindered by celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Beyonce refusing to get involved, a report has claimed.
According to a very revealing article from Vanity Fair, Meghan was turned down by some very big names and Harry had some extremely unusual ideas of what they should be focusing on.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a reported £18 million deal with Spotify to make the podcast but the venture collapsed in just three years, with very few people opting to listen consistently.
A source said that they were unlike other celebrity podcasters, who will ‘turn on the mic and talk’.
The source also said the couple ‘wanted a big theme that would explain the world, but they had no ideas’.
Prince Harry’s podcast ideas
Harry supposedly did have some ideas, but they were bizarre ones. A plan of his was to review hot chocolate every week, whilst he also wanted to interview Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump about being ‘sociopaths’.
As well as that, Meghan found it hard to commit to single idea before ‘backtracking’ and ‘watering them down’, meaning each episode had to be ‘completely reimagined late in production’, the article explains.
Meghan did eventually premiere her podcast which was called ‘Archetypes’, but she then struggled to get any of the powerful women that she wanted to appear on it. The likes of Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Megan Thee Stallion all supposedly turned her down.
With a lack of guests, proper ideas, and issues with Spotify staff, the podcast was discontinued and Meghan and Harry have been left searching for a new purpose.
