Florence Pugh played a prominent role alongside Cillian Murphy in the film Oppenheimer and months after an attention-grabbing release, she continues to offer quirky details from the shoot.
One of the anecdotes was what happened during the filming of a particularly sensitive scene: one of the cameras broke during the sex scene.
It was an ‘earth-shattering’ moment, but the actors were able to cope.
“In the middle of our sex scene, the camera broke. No one knows, but it did. Our camera broke when we were both naked, and it was not ideal timing,” she said during a panel.
“Cillian and I are in this room together. It’s a closed set, so we’re both holding our bodies like this,” she remembered, hugging herself.
Learning opportunity
She decided that she may as well learn a thing or two about cameras whilst they are trying to fix the problem.
“I’m like, well, this is my moment to learn,” said Pugh, who remembered talking to the repair tech.
“You just make your moments,” she added. “I’m like, ‘What’s going on with the shutter here, buddy?'”
Pugh said she loved being on set with so many passionate people, telling the panel, “It was just crazy that every person on this set was so knowledgeable and was so ready to make this kind of a movie that there was no dull moment.”
