The role of the race directors in the main motorsport competitions is constantly under scrutiny. In Formula E, there will also be changes this season in the figure of the top director of the electric competition.
We have learned that the current race director, AmericanScot Elkins, will leave his post this season for personal reasons. “After 10 years in Formula E, it is time to retire. With the recent loss of my father I have new responsibilities that require my attention at home,” explained the man who will now be CEO of Al Kamel Systems in the United States. It will be from the Miami E-Prix, which will take place on April 12, when the changeover on the track will take place.
The new Formula E race director will be PolishMarek Hanaczewski, one of Elkins’ ‘dolphins’ and who, in fact, already took his place in Sao Paulo at the start of the season. The two will also rotate at the next round, the double-header in Jeddah.
“The role of race director is an exciting chapter in my motorsport career and the continuation of a path that began 13 years ago. Since 2017 I have had the privilege of working alongside Scot, who in addition to being a leader has been a mentor and a friend. His contribution to Formula E has been undeniable,” explained the Pole.
