Since the Dallas Cowboys head coach vacancy became known, Deion Sanders’ name immediately began to gain momentum as a natural candidate, despite the fact that he repeatedly said that he had no desire to be a coach in the NFL.
However, everything changed when Jerry Jones did his job by seeking out the two-time Super Bowl winner to ask him directly if he was interested in the position left vacant by Mike McCarthy after a more than complicated season for the team, which was left without playoffs.
Sanders continues to ‘dilly-dally’
Sanders told ESPN his uncertainty about the possibility, although he somehow left the door open for an eventual move to his first responsibility as a coach in the NFL: “Listening to Jerry Jones is really lovely and it’s intriguing. I love Jerry and I believe in Jerry. After hanging up, processing it and thinking about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community,” he said.

It is precisely this ‘indefiniteness’ of Sanders that allowed the conversation to introduce the name of Kellen Moore as another possibility, so from the media there are already voices asking Sanders to make a decision.
“It would be amazing to see Deion as coach of the Cowboys”
One of them is that of his friend and fellow NFL coach Steve Mariucci, who made a whole ‘sale’ of the virtues that the former player has as a coach, during the NFL GameDay program: “Some people think this is crazy because he has no experience as an NFL coach at all. But I’ll say this. He’s coached a lot. He coached youth football. He coached high school football. He’s coached at the collegiate level at a very high level.
“He and I trained together at the Under Armour All-American Game for 11 years. I’ve seen him identify with the kids when he starts teaching about DB techniques. It’s second to none. This would be amazing. If Jerry says, you know what, he’s one of us, he’s one of our stars, we’re Team USA. Hell, he could bring in stars from all over the country. I know that if he had the chance and they joined forces, this would be amazing to see. He could do it,” he said, convinced that Sanders is the ideal candidate to be chosen by Jerry Jones.
The only advantage Sanders has is that neither he nor Moore have been interviewed by Jones officially, as the Cowboys are barred from interviewing the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator until they are eliminated or the Super Bowl ends as the climax of the NFL season.
