Bayern Munich women’s player Giulia Gwinn turned down an offer for a photoshoot by Playboy magazine to avoid bad publicity that could cost her a place in the final squad for the 2023 Women’s World Cup to be played in Australia and New Zealand.
However, the German midfielder was unable to recover from injury, so in the end she was left empty-handed: no photoshoot, no World Cup.

Playboy offered her a good amount of money, but Giulia declined
The German newspaper Bild, reported that Giulia was chosen by the famous magazine, which was looking for a German player who also had great influence on the fans, and they put on the table a very tempting financial offer, which the player rejected to avoid having a bad image a few weeks before the start of the World Cup 2023.
The president of Playboy Europe, Florian Boitin, said: “Giulia Gwinn is an outstanding athlete and a beautiful young woman, so she is a very interesting personality for Playboy.”

Giulia’s injury that kept her out of the World Cup
In October 2022, Giulia suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury which, despite the midfielder’s attempts to recover in time to be ready for the World Cup, she was unable to recover 100 per cent and was not included in the final squad for the Germany Women’s National Team.
Proud of her efforts to get back on her feet
On her Instagram account, which has 528,000 followers, Giulia broke the news of her exclusion from Germany’s World Cup squad for Australia and New Zealand, saying she was “sad and disappointed, but very proud of the recovery efforts”.
The German women’s national team squad was announced at the end of May.
