Gwyneth Paltrow has shown her support for her ex-fiance Ben Affleck by offering to help him through his upcoming divorce from Jennifer Lopez, suggesting she could serve as his “uncoupling” therapist.
An insider told In Touch that Paltrow has reached out to Affleck to offer her assistance during this tough time. The pair dated in the late 1990s after meeting at a dinner party in 1997, and later starred together in “Shakespeare in Love” and “Bounce.”
After their breakup, she married Coldplay’s Chris Martin, with whom she has two children. They separated in 2014, famously announcing they were “consciously uncoupling.”
Paltrow is still Team Ben
Despite their breakup more than 20 years ago, the source told In Touch that Paltrow remains “Team Ben.”
“Gwyneth has been following the situation closely and believes really strongly that she could help them by sharing some of the tools that worked for her and Chris Martin,” the insider told In Touch.
“People ask her for that kind of help all the time, but she’s very picky about who she’ll give her time to. Ben isn’t just anyone though, she’s been friends with him for nearly 30 years and she hates to see him going through this sort of pain.
“She knows he’s far from perfect and she’s got enough distance to act as an impartial mediator for him and J. Lo. She’s offered to try and help them get back on track but if it comes down to it she’s also got the skills to help them navigate the divorce with spiritual techniques, and practical advice to make it easier on them and on their kids.
“It’s typical Gwyneth, she always loves to meddle, but at least her heart is in the right place.”
Affleck and Lopez, 54, were originally set to marry in 2003, but called off their wedding just days before the ceremony and ended their relationship in January 2004. After Jennifer’s split from Alex Rodriguez in 2021, she and Ben rekindled their relationship.
The couple married in a spontaneous Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, followed by a more formal wedding at Ben’s Georgia estate the following month. However, less than two years into their marriage, they are reportedly heading for divorce.
