Hulk Hogan has become one of the most talked about personalities in the news lately after his appearance on the first episode of WWE Raw on Netflix. The wrestling legend only appeared to promote his beer brand (one of the sponsors of the in-ring canvas).
To the surprise of many, the Los Angeles crowd at the Intuit Dome booed him, and when Hogan grabbed the microphone to cut his promo, it was barely audible, practically the entire arena was not happy with his performance. The ‘Hulkster’s reaction makes it pretty clear that he wasn’t expecting this at all.
Since then there have been many rumors, the first one about WWE wanting Hulk Hogan to be a heel on TV, to make sense of the booing and not make it a political issue. And the second clearly about an alleged return with another brief appearance on the pro wrestling company’s programming.
January 25th will be the date of his return in a new WWE program
The historic Saturday Night’s Main Event returned this past December, but only on NBC. It’s kind of a tribute to the events of many years ago, showing a completely different scenario and with quite a few changes from the weekly RAW and SmackDown shows. That retro 90’s feel gives it something special. The next special event will take place on Saturday, January 25th at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
And Hulk Hogan is expected to make a return for that date, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
“Hogan will be on this show, January 25th. When Hogan was shown on the screen at the venue, they booed like crazy. It will be interesting – will they put him in front of the crowd and risk getting booed? Or will he come out and maybe the crowd won’t boo?” wondered Meltzer about possible scenarios.
Another of the points about Hogan’s return, after being booed in his last appearance, is that it could be a deal between the former wrestler with Netflix, as his beer brand has signed with WWE to promote itself, surely they are obliged that the former champion of the company has to make an appearance or two.
The reality is that there were mixed reactions in the dressing room of the wrestling company, while the managers were pleasantly surprised, many said that the booing was due to political issues, we will find out when Hogan appears in Texas.
