Hollywood is notoriously competitive and tough to break in to and that was also the case for Jennifer Lawrence.
Even though the actress eventually made it, she suffered a lot along the way and she has reflected on some of the horrifying experiences she endured to get certain parts.
During an event organised by Elle in 2017, she recounted some of the requests put to her in order to get certain roles.
“When I was much younger and starting out, I was told by the producers of a film to lose 15 pounds in two weeks,” she reflected.
“One girl before me had already been fired for not losing enough weight fast enough.
“During this time a female producer had me do a nude line-up with about five women who were much, much thinner than me.
“We all stood side by side with only paste-ons covering our privates. We all stood side-by-side with only tape covering our privates.
“After that degrading and humiliating line-up, the female producer told me I should use the naked photos of myself as inspiration for my diet.”
Although Jennifer Lawrence has admitted that she accepted some of this at the time because she thought she had to, she has now been very vocal in speaking out to try to make it a less cruel industry for those young actresses following in her footsteps.
