A dozen years ago, Ross Tucker was one of Jerry Jones’ biggest defenders, praising the Dallas Cowboys owner as a bold businessman who owned every decision-good or bad. “The buck stops with him,” Tucker said back then. But today, Tucker’s tone has shifted. Now, he sounds like someone nervously watching an aging relative make questionable choices. “I get nervous now when he talks to the media,” Tucker admitted. “There’s an age where I wouldn’t want my grandpa talking publicly to anyone.”
This season has been a tough one for Cowboys fans, and Jones’ decisions have come under heavy scrutiny. In the offseason, he declared, “All-in. All-in. All-in. We’re all-in with these young guys. We’re all-in with this draft.” Fans were hopeful-until the season began.
“All-in” turned into another year of disappointment, with Dallas finishing 7-10 and missing the playoffs. After a loss to the Texans dropped the team to 3-7, Jones reminisced about 1989, saying, “We won one game my first year.” Nostalgia is nice, but not when your team is struggling in the present.

Then there’s the infamous sun issue at AT&T Stadium. The blinding glare has made routine plays nearly impossible, with star receiver CeeDee Lamb admitting, “I couldn’t see the ball,” after a crucial drop. When asked if curtains could help, Lamb said, “One thousand percent.” But Jones dismissed the idea, joking, “Let’s just tear the damn stadium down and build another one. Are you kidding me?” Because, apparently, curtains are more complicated than constructing a new stadium. Classic Jerry.
Can Cowboys fans endure much more of Jones’ reign?
After a Week 18 loss to the Commanders, Jones made a comment that left fans questioning whether he’s fully in touch with reality. And when asked if he’d ever step back from his GM role, Jones didn’t hesitate. “No. Just, no,” he said. “I bought an occupation, and I bought something I was going to do for the rest of my life. That’s what I’m doing.” Translation? He’s not going anywhere.
Fans wanted bold moves like signing Derrick Henry or making trades, but Jones stood pat. The Cowboys did make changes-firing head coach Mike McCarthy and hiring Brian Schottenheimer-but with Jones still calling the shots, optimism is hard to come by. “Since I have to decide where the money is spent, then you might as well cut all of the bullsh-t out. That’s who’s making the call anyways,” Jones said.
At 82, Jerry Jones isn’t just running the Cowboys-he is the Cowboys. And based on his recent comments, he has no plans to step back. For better or worse, Dallas remains Jerry’s World. The only question left is: how much longer can fans take it?
