UFC President Dana White announced Friday that U.S. heavyweight champion Jon Jones will put his belt on the line against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 on Nov. 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
In a video shared on his Twitter account, White took advantage of this weekend’s UFC Fight Week 2023 in Las Vegas to trumpet one of the most anticipated bouts of the year.
In his message, he describes Jones as: “The greatest mixed martial arts fighter of all time,” while Miocic is described as: “The greatest heavyweight of all time” to sell the fight as it deserves.
Jon Jones: professional record
Jonathan Dwight Jones has a record as a professional fighter of 27 wins and only one loss since his debut in April 2008.
After three years of absence, he returned on March 4 to defeat Frenchman Ciryl Gane in the first round by submission to become heavyweight champion at UFC 285.
Stipe Miocic: professional record
On the other side of the octagon, there will be the Croatian-born American, Stipe Miocic, who has a 20-4 record but has not fought since March 27, 2021.
On that occasion, he lost to Cameroonian Francis Ngannou by a second round knockout to lose the UFC heavyweight championship at UFC 260.
UFC heavyweight rankings
The heavyweight rankings are currently headed by Russian Sergei Pavlovich, followed by Ciryl Gane in second place and Miocic completes the podium in third place.
The first five positions are completed by the American, Curtis Blaydes, and the Englishman, Tom Aspinall, respectively.
