Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri is no longer going by the Cruise surname.
The change marks a big change for the 18-year-old, who has opted to drop the famous surname of her father. Instead, she will now go by Suri Noelle in what is a tribute to her mother.
“She is showing praise for her mother by using her middle name,” a source told Page Six, while speculating that Suri did so in order to establish her “own identity.”
The source also noted that the name will her “avoid the paparazzi” and start fresh in college.
Suri has already used her new name
Suri has already put her new surname to use, using the moniker at her graduation ceremony from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts earlier this month.
She was also listed as Suri Noelle in the playbill for her role as Morticia Addams in her high school performance of “The Addams Family: A New Musical” back in December.
While Suri is happy to use the new surname, it is unclear whether she has legally changed her name.
Regardless, the move shows how deep the divide between Suri and Tom is. Back in March 2023, Page Six confirmed that the famous actor remains estranged from his daughter.
Katie and Tom divorced back in 2012, which resulted in her parenting Suri on her own.
“I feel very blessed to have such a special daughter. Being her mom is absolutely the greatest gift and privilege,” Holmes said about raising her daughter.
