Shakira joined Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore on The Tonight Show for a polygraph test to prove once and for all that her hips don’t lie. The hilarious segment had Fallon and Barrymore reading the signs of Shakira’s body through the machine’s sensors, which were placed on her hips, as she danced to her hit song “Hips Don’t Lie.”
Fallon was in charge of checking the sensors on the singer’s body and after asking Barrymore“Everything hooked up?” he addresses the Colombian to tell her: “You know what to do, Shakira.”
A resigned Shakira then begins to move her hips to the song. After a dramatic examination, Barrymore concluded, “It checks out. They’re telling the truth,” to which Shakira responded, “Told ya.”
The “husband factor”
Later in the show, Shakira discussed her new album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry), explaining that the title reflects a shift in societal expectations for women. She expressed that women should be able to decide when and how to cry, rejecting the notion that they must conceal their pain.
Shakira also opened up about the seven-year gap between her latest album and her previous one, El Dorado, attributing it to her ex-husband. “I’ve been putting out music here and there,” the songstress explained, “but I think it was really hard for me to put together a body of work. I didn’t have time. It was the husband factor.”
Without mentioning the name of her ex-husband, Gerard Piqué, the songstress declared, “Now I’m husband-less. The husband was dragging me down. Now I’m free! Now I can actually work!”

Shakira’s appearance on The Tonight Show included a performance of “Puntería,” originally featuring Cardi B. Dressed in white baggy pants and a top with ropes, Shakira delivered a captivating performance flanked by four female dancers.
The set was adorned with iridescent curtains and a pearlesque backdrop displaying a gigantic diamond, emphasizing the theme of resilience that Shakira embodies in her new album.
