Several videos on social media show Sheeran with a microphone in hand and playing guitar during a street concert in the vicinity of Church Street, one of the busiest places in Bangalore. As the singer sang the most famous song of his career, ‘Shape of You’, the police intervened and stopped everything completely.
Everything happened on Sunday, February 9, and the Indian agency ANI reported the statements of the city’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shekar T Tekkannanavar, who explained what happened: “A member of the event organisers came to see me to ask for permission for the performance on Streetside in Church Street. I refused to give him permission because Church Street gets very crowded. That’s why they asked him to vacate the place”.
