Everything surrounding the actor’s death has been properly dealt with and judged, with as many as five people involved in his death. In August last year, the actor’s drug procurement was put on trial. Five people were charged with conspiracy to distribute ketamine and distribution of ketamine resulting in the actor’s death. Two of them were doctors, and another was his personal assistant.
It is worth noting that the actor spent his entire life battling addiction to drugs, even telling about it in his autobiography, ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing’.
Just a month after his death, his relativescreatedafoundation, named after him, to treat people suffering from addiction. Now, this foundation has joined Massachusetts General Hospital to create a fellowship to traina type of physician who is a specialist in this type of problem.
Sarah Kler: the first doctor to apply for the Matthew Perry scholarship
It was the social networks of the Matthew Perry Foundation that made this news known, showing their enormous happiness in the following terms: “The Matthew Perry Foundation is honored to be in partnership with the Massachusetts General Hospital Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program. Matthew believed deeply in eliminating the stigma surrounding the disease of addiction and with that in mind, we are proud to lend our name to this important work.”
They went on to explain what this fellowship entails and what it is intended for: “The fellowship focuses on the development of clinical experience, leadership skills and training in effective addiction care systems. The goal is for graduate fellows to be trained to provide access to high-quality treatment and provide guidance and mentoring.”
Finally, the statement released the name of the first person who will be eligible for the Matthew Perry scholarship. Her name is Sarah Kler, known as “SK”, chief medical resident in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. There will be three participants who will rotate in this position.
