In recent weeks, much has been said about the possible retirement of Conor McGregor from Mixed Martial Arts, but the Irishman has not stopped being physically active to keep fit.
The former champion and one of the greatest and most recognized exponents of UFC seems to be taking a different path now to try his luck in another sport.
McGregor’s desire to face Logan Paul
McGregor has insisted on his return to MMA after a long three-year hiatus and is looking for a showdown against Logan Paul, although so far it seems something that is still a long way from being finalized.
Paul said he does not want to have another activity away from the WWE, so McGregor’s return to the ring could be delayed longer than he would like.
However, McGregor has shown that, although he is not active professionally, he remains in good shape by exercising continuously, and now “trying his luck” in another sport totally unrelated to fighting.
McGregor wears the number 11 shirt for Black Forge
McGregor took to a soccer field, wearing the number 11 shirt and playing on the left flank for Black Forge FC, who faced Harding FC on Saturday.
Black Forge FC is an amateur Irish football team, and the 36-year-old fighter appeared in the starting line-up for the team that is second in the local tournament.
It is worth remembering that before becoming a professional fighter, McGregor had the desire to be a soccer player, and played for Lourdes Celtic in his youth soccer days.
However, “The Notorious” fate was in the octagon, to which he has not returned since his defeat against Dustin Poirier in 2021, when he suffered a broken leg.
Fortunately, McGregor’s injury is a thing of the past, as he proved when he played soccer in his native Ireland.
