It has now been confirmed that Conor McGregor won’t be back in the octagon before the end of this year, even though a fight against Michael Chandler had seemed likely for December.
McGregor‘s manager, Audie Attar, recently clarified that ‘The Notorious’ is targeting a return in 2024 and he is scanning the field for potential opponents.
Despite having plans lined up, McGregor continues to seek out new rivals and Justin Gaethje might be an option.

After Gaethje‘s impressive victory over Dustin Poirier, who has proved to be a formidable opponent for McGregor, the Irish fighter promptly took to Twitter boasting that he will knock the American out.
“I’m going to knock him out inside of four rounds, mark my words,” McGregor wrote.
During the post-UFC 291 press conference, Gaethje was asked about a potential fight with McGregor and stressed that his interest has diminished.
“I’m not going to fight someone on steroids,” he said.
“I’ve never taken steroids in my life, never will. Well, maybe when I retire, I might.
“But I’ve never taken steroids, and I don’t want to fight someone that’s cheating.
“I probably shouldn’t even say that if I want the fight, but it’s the truth.”
Therefore, it seems unlikely that these two will meet in the UFC octagon, but nothing can ever be ruled out in this sport.
