To celebrate that triumph, Messi has added a new tattoo, one that fans have spotted and shared online.
What is Messi’s new tattoo and what does it mean?
Messi has added the ‘Five of Cups’ card from the Spanish deck of cards to his left leg.
It is a representation of the success that he has desired for so many years with the Argentina national team and that began to be forged with the conquest of the 2021 Copa America in Brazil.
The meaning is also very special because Messi used this number on his jerseys at the beginning of his career, so he has mentioned on several occasions how important it is for him.
In an interview with TyC Sports, Messi explained that this number also refers to the number of members in his family, with his parents, his sister and his brother.
Although on the field the No.5 is for a defensive midfielder, it still means a lot to Messi and this is why he wanted this small and discreet tattoo.

In the documentary ‘Sean Eternos: Campeones de America’ you can see how the players started guessing cards and that Messi guessed this number.
Several of them decided to get it tattooed because they considered it a premonition of their victory.
The players who participated in this game besides Messi were Giovani Lo Celso, Nicolas Otamendi, Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez, Angel Di Maria and Sergio Aguero.
