College football is in the final stretch to find out its new champion, in a duel for the coveted trophy that will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium beteween Ohio State and Notre Dame this Monday, January 20.
The NCAA began with the playoff format in 2014, and during this time six teams have won the title, and the only thing that has not changed is the dominance of the Alabama Crimson Tide, with three trophies, to make a total of 13 in their history.
In previous years there was no official champion by means of a final, but honor was paid to the team that various surveys determined was the best team of the season.

Although the format was established in 2014, this year is the first time in history that the NCAA football playoffs were play with a 12-team format.

In total, there are six teams that have won the National Championship since it was decided under the College Football Playoff format.
The Michigan Wolverines are the latest champions to join the club of monarchs since the CFP National Championship has been played. The Alabama Crimson Tide, in addition to its three titles, has three lost finals, which makes it the most dominant of recent years.
