Ben Affleck has undergone a drastic style makeover after deciding to ditch his famous ‘lucky charm’ beard for a youthful, more clean-cut look.
After years of sporting a disheveled grizzly beard, which reinforced his image as one of the industry’s tough men, Affleck decided to shave it off and dyed his hair a darker shade of brown to make himself look younger.
The Hollywood actor’s major transformation took his fans by surprise, as some commented that he looked several decades younger than his 51 years. It’s not the first time Affleck has chosen to delay the grey, dying his beard brown in 2020, although he had recently let it grow back to its natural grey shade.
Affleck was spotted out and about in Los Angeles with his son Samuel, 12, who he co-parents with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
The actor turned up at his son’s basketball game showing off his new fresh look and surprised the crowd by how rejuvenated he looked, spinning the ball on one finger as Samuel stowed his backpack in the boot of his father’s luxury Mercedes car.
But it wasn’t just his hair and facial hair that underwent a huge overhaul – Affleck dressed differently too. The two-time Academy Award winner showed off his casual attire, with a maroon suit and green shirt.
Why did Ben Affleck shave his beard?
There is nothing to confirm why he went for such a radical change, but his followers have speculated his change could indicate he is participating in a new film which is yet to be announced.
Just recently, Ben attended the Golden Globes ceremony with Jennifer Lopez, looking his usual self. Perhaps he wanted to look smarter for his wife after they got hitched in 2022.
It emerged recently that Affleck wasn’t happy that love letters he had given to Lopez after they reconciled in 2021 were revealed in his documentary ‘The Greatest Love Story Never Told’.
In the footage, Affleck’s surprise appears to be genuine after he told the camera crew that he wanted them to be kept secret first. Other than that, things appear to be going swimmingly for the married couple.
