50 tournaments will be played next season, the most events on the PGA Tour since the 51-date season in 1975

Announced: By the PGA Tour, a 50-tournament schedule for the 2020-21 season, according to a news release Wednesday. The Tour is counting the 2020 U.S. Open on Sept. 17-20 and the 2020 Masters on Nov. 12-15 among the 50 total for the 2020-21 season. Those tournaments were rescheduled from earlier this year when play was suspended for three months because of the coronavirus pandemic. If all of the tournaments are played as scheduled, it will be a net gain of one from what originally had been scheduled in the 2019-20 season and the most events in a year on the PGA Tour since 1975, when 51 were held. After this year, when three of the four major championships were rescheduled and the fourth, the British Open, was canceled, the 2021 majors will be played in their customary order. The Masters will be held April 12-15 at Augusta (Ga.) National Golf Club, followed by the PGA Championship on May 20-23 at the Kiawah Island (S.C.) Golf Resort’s Ocean Course, the U.S. Open on June 17-20 at Torrey Pines in San Diego and the British Open on July 15-18 at Royal St. George’s in Sandwich, England. It also will be a year of big events, with men’s golf at Tokyo Olympics scheduled for July 29-Aug. 1, and the Ryder Cup on Sept. 24-26 at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis.
