Choosing and matching the colors of the clothes we wear is essential to give a good image to the world and, while some people prefer to opt for extravagant prints or more flashy colors, others opt for plain clothes and neutral colors that are easier to combine with each other.
This is how black has become an indispensable color in anyone’s closet. But… what do we convey when we wear black? Psychologists have always agreed that we associate the color black with elegance, power and seriousness, which is why it tends to be a color widely used in the workplace.
However, it is also associated with the inaccessible and the dark, so many use this color if their intention is to put distance with the people around them or those who want to get away from feelings of pain or rejection.
Studies suggest that the color black is associated with optimism
Now, however, studies point to something different: the fashion magazine L’Officiel has analyzed the latest studies on fashion and found that “black is the color to wear when trying to impress, reassure or seduce, as it conveys tranquility”.
Black is, for almost half of women and more than 60% of men, a color that conveys confidence. In fact, it has even been said that people who wear it tend to be more positive than negative. This is quite a different assessment from what we have had so far of this dark color.
