The draw for the 2023/24 LaLiga Santander calendar already reveals some key dates andfans of Real Madrid, and other Spanish sides, are making plans to attend games next season.
As has been customary in recent seasons, the draw sees an asymmetrical calendar. This means that it is not necessary for the order of the first round matches to coincide with those of the second round, as has been the case for decades.
LaLiga Santander will start on Friday August 11, 2023 and will end on Sunday May 26, 2024. This year there will be no matches on December 31 as in the last two seasons and the winter break for Christmas will run from December 22 to January 1.
Real Madrid will make their debut in the championship in style, against Athletic Club at San Mames. It will be on the weekend of August 12-13, in the middle of the long weekend. A top-level match that will serve to test Carlo Ancelotti‘s new Real Madrid… who will begin their pre-season tour of the United States on July 18.
Clasico, derby and key dates
The first Clasico of the season against Barcelona will be on matchday 11 (29 October 2023) at the Estadio Olimpico in Montjuic. The return leg at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu will be on matchday 32 on the weekend of April 21, 2024.
On the other hand, the first Derby against Atletico Madrid will be played at the Civitas Metropolitano on matchday 6, on September 24, 2023, while the second will be played on matchday 23 on the weekend of February 4, 2024.
In addition, the final matchday of 2023/24 will provide football fans with a date not to be missed on their calendar. The final matchday will be packed with high-voltage games… that could define a league competition: Sevilla-Barcelona, Real Madrid-Real Betis and Real Sociedad-Atletico Madrid will bring the season to a close.
