Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward, two of the most highly touted prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, recently worked out together and gave fans a glimpse of their competitive spirit.
While taking turns running drills and showing off their throwing skills, the two quarterbacks engaged in a lighthearted debate over who deserves the title of “generational prospect.”
In a video that has circulated widely on social media, Sanders confidently declared: “An article came out today. I’m generational,” to which Ward quickly countered: “I’m generational.”
The banter continued with Sanders cheekily conceding: “Nah, you generational, I’m legendary,” sparking an exchange about the value of those labels.

Ward replied: “Legendary gets their a– whooped … Generational is once every 100 years.”
To which Sanders responded: “You could be generational with no Super Bowl.”
Both quarterbacks leaned into their confidence and competitive edge, with Ward later stating: “They don’t make no comparisons to me. I’m in my own category.”
Two elite prospects
While the playful debate added some levity, both players have serious credentials to back up their NFL aspirations. Cam Ward, a 2024 Heisman finalist, delivered a dominant final college season with the Miami Hurricanes.
He threw for 4,391 yards, 39 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. Ward‘s career totals over five years across stints at Incarnate Word, Washington State, and Miami are staggering: 18,187 passing yards, 158 touchdowns, and 37 interceptions.
On the other hand, Shedeur Sanders leaves college football after an impressive four seasons split between Jackson State and Colorado. During his final season with the Buffaloes, Sanders threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
His college career totals include 14,327 passing yards, 134 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. Sanders also elevated his draft stock with his leadership and ability to thrive in high-pressure moments, even against elite competition.
With both players expected to be first-round picks in April’s draft, several quarterback-needy NFL teams are likely keeping a close eye on their performances and personalities.
Teams such as the Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, Cleveland Browns, and New York Jets are among those that could benefit from selecting a franchise quarterback this year.
