William Mebarak, Shakira’s father, was hospitalized for pneumonia in a hospital in Barranquilla, Colombia, since lastWednesday, June 5. According to local media such, the singer’s father is in the Ibero-American Clinic, in the Intensive Care Unit, by decision of the doctors who treat him.
Reports Indicate the artist is already aware of the situation and is traveling from Miami to Barranquilla to take care of her father. The last time the singer’s father was seen in public was on December 26 of last year, when he visited the statue that the artist Yino Márquez made of Shakira, which was installed on the Malecón del Río.
The Colombian singer and her father maintain a very close relationship, as the she wrote her first album ‘Magia’ for him. In addition, he was in charge of promoting the artist’s career by serving as her representative and in charge of taking her to the media.
Mebarak Chadid has had different jobs such as writer, radio host, literature teacher and journalist, he also had some jobs as a jeweler and merchant.

Mr. Mebarak suffered two hospitalizations in 2022, one was after suffering a fall, for which he had to undergo emergency surgery due to blood clots in the brain that were found.
The father of the singer accompanied his family to the Teknon medical center in Barcelona. All this occurred at the same time as his separation from former soccer player, Gerard Piqué.
Again, in October of the same year, he was in the Barcelona hospital for reasons of a ‘reserved nature’, where he remained for two weeks until he was discharged.
