In “Basic Instinct,” Stone’s character, Catherine, famously distracted the police during an interrogation by uncrossing and recrossing her legs, revealing she was not wearing underwear. This controversial scene became one of the most memorable in cinematic history.

In her memoir, “The Beauty of Living Twice,” Stone detailed her anger towards director Paul Verhoeven, recounting how she slapped him and walked out of a preview after realizing the scene was included against his prior assurances.

Verhoeven has denied Stone’s claims, maintaining that she was aware of the scene’s details.
