Smash Mouth lead singer Steve Harwell is currently having serious medical complications after he’s experiencing lethal kidney failure and according to doctors, he only has a few weeks to live.
According to Smash Mouth’s manager, Steve has struggled with alcohol abuse for most of his adult life which is partly responsible for the singer’s liver deterioration.

According to TMZ, Harwell had been receiving medical treatment for his liver, however, he is now in hospice at home with a life expectancy of only a few weeks. Friends and family of the singer have gathered over the last few days to be with him in this difficult moment.
2 years ago, Steve and Smash Mouth were performing and he seemed disoriented and began slurring his words and yelling at the crowd in a concerning manner. After that became public, he announced that he was officially retiring from his musical career.
The news outlet also elaborated that Harwell was not doing so well as he also was battling different ailments that got a few diagnoses, doctors determined that he had cardiomyopathy which is a disease that hardens the heart, Wernicke encephalopathy along with heart failure.
All of these ailments, along with an acute drinking problem that damaged the singer’s body in different ways including liver failure have contributed to his health deteriorating to a fatal level.
Smash Mouth is responsible for pop-rock hits such as, “Walking on the Sun“, and “All-Star” while also singing versions of songs like “Why Can’t We Be Friends“, and “I’m a Believer” featured in the smash hit movie Shrek.
Steve is going through this difficult time surrounded by loved ones who are with him while facing his complicated health crisis.
Steve is 56 years old.
