Residents in Michigan can claim a huge $1,500 stimulus check as the state bids to alleviate the pressure on struggling American families in a challenging economic climate. So what is the important info?
The war in Ukraine, United States‘ relationship with Russia and the long-term impact of the 2019 Covid-19 pandemic have caused hyperinflation worldwide whilst real wages have not appropriately adjusted either.
This has caused the cost of items to dramatically increase and put medium-to-low earners under serious pressure to make ends meet, especially when it comes to affording gas, electricity and heating.
In light of this, Michigan will offer a $1,500 Child Stimulus payment to residents of Flint as part of the Rx Kids scheme which aims to help young parents and pregnant women and could even amount to $7500 depending on household factors.
The program kicked off in January 2024 and employs a no-questions-asked policy for pregnant women walking through the doors to claim a $1,500 stipend in the middle of pregnancy as well as an extra $500 for each month of the child’s first year of life.
Simple maths shows this works out at $7,500 (the $1,500 check and $6000 for the first 12 months) and could be revolutionary to combating the United States‘ declining birth rate as well as ensuring families can get off the ground.
