Investigations into the implosion of the Titan submarine in 2023 are ongoing and the United States Coast Guard shared a chilling audio clip that shed more light on the final moments before the tragedy.
The Marine Board of Investigation into the Titan Submersible is in charge of gathering more evidence and released a 20-second clip of audio that was captured by a device that was 900 miles from the site of the tragic accident that claimed the lives of the five crew members, and the new finding is reported as a “suspicious acoustic signature” of the moment of the implosion.
“A passive acoustic recorder moored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), approximately 900 miles from the site of the Titan submersible implosion, records the alleged acoustic signature of the Titan submersible implosion on June 18, 2023,” the Coast Guard said in a brief paragraph posted on the investigation’s website.
Due to the force of the implosion, the theory is that the death was instantaneous for the crew members, who were made up of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, British explorer Hamish Hardin, French deep-sea explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and British-Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman.

On June 18, 2023, a group of explorers went missing aboard the submersible Titan while en route to the Titanic shipwreck site.
This submersible, designed to carry up to five people to depths of up to 4,000 meters, was lost in the Atlantic Ocean. On board were the pilot and four passengers.
The Rescue Coordination Operations Center (RCOC) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, reported that contact with the vessel was lost at around 9:13 p.m. on Sunday, about one hour and 45 minutes after it began its descent.
The authorities requested the collaboration of commercial vessels to join the search in order to try to rescue the missing. However, hope faded when, on Thursday, June 22, it was confirmed that all the occupants had died.
