The 14-year-old rapper and social media personality has accumulated relative success through her 5-year career on the internet. Her net worth is currently valued at over $500,000 dollars.
Lil Tay has over 3.5 million Instagram followers and her now abandoned YouTube channel amassed over 200 thousand followers.
Lil Tay’s death hoax could boost worth
The child rapperpublished a statement to media outlets just 24 hours after a message was posted on her feed claiming to be from her family in which it announced her and her older brother’ssudden death.
Lil Tay, whose real name turns out is not Claire Hope as was reported, released a statement via TMZ where she aimed to clear things up about the whole scandal.
“My Instagram account was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors regarding me, to the point that even my name was wrong. My legal name is Tay Tian, not “Claire Hope”.”
Tay explained further saying: “I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say. It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess.”
With the mysterious death hoax claiming space with audiences that didn’t know her, the child rapper’s worth could see a gain in the coming months due to her new-found fame.

How old was Lil Tay when she started?
Lil Tay started posting videos on the internet in 2017 when she was only 9-years-old.
She started gaining notoriety for appearing to enjoy a lavish lifestyle filled with luxury vehicles, designer clothes, and brandishing stacks of cash in her videos. She was also known as a polarizing figure often engaging in internet feuds with other content creators.
In 2018 she stopped posting on YouTube and her account on Instagram was wiped out when her parents were involved in an ugly divorce that included a custody battle for her and her brother Jason.
Tay’s family moved to Los Angeles when she started to gain fame. Previously she had lived in Vancouver, Canada.
Her mother is a former real estate agent and her father is a lawyer.
