Everything that makes an artist who they are begins in the family home, the house from which they leave to find their place in the world. In her family home, Taylor Alison Swift has the support and understanding of a family made up of her father Scott Kingsley Swift, a stockbroker and financial advisor; her mother Andrea Gardner Swift, a housewife; and her younger brother Austin, who is now 32 years old. Taylor and her brother’s religious upbringing is Presbyterian and until recently they both attended Bible reading every summer.
Invaluable memories of the family home
Taylor’s fondest childhood memories come from the long seasons she spent with her family at their beach house in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, as well as a Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania where they grew up, before the family moved to the outskirts of Nashville when Sony signed a young Taylor at just 14 years old.
The importance of Taylor’s family ties was evident in her acceptance speech at the 2010 Grammy Awards, where she emotionally thanked her parents for their support, dedicating the night’s top award to her father. “This is for all those times you said I could do whatever I wanted in life (…) And… mom, you’re my best friend.“
