CES 2025 has been a busy time. In addition to confirming that PlayStation is producing a Ghost of Tsushima anime along with Crunchyroll and Aniplex, it has revealed the release window for The Last of Us season 2.
That’s right. We already know when the series will return: in April 2025. So we won’t have to wait long to follow Joel and Ellie’s adventures on the small screen. Luckily, this is not the only piece of information they have revealed.
In addition to the premiere window, Sony has explained thatthe series will run for seven episodes, so it won’t be an especially long season. The first season had nine, so it will be a little shorter than this one.
Alongside this, a new trailer has been released in which we can see both Abby and Dina, who will be played by Kaitlyn Dever and Isabela Merced, respectively.
The Last of Us season 2 will arrive in 2025
The fact that the second season of the TLOU series will premiere in April 2025 is no coincidence, as that same month the remastering of The Last of Us Part 2 will be released on PC. It is certainly a smart strategy by Sony.
When the first part was released, many people wanted to know more about the original game. Therefore, having both installments already on PC, and coinciding the premiere of the series with its release on PC, is a pretty good idea.
It didn’t take much thought to come to that conclusion, it has to be said, but that’s another matter.
As for the cast, in addition to the actors already confirmed, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will return as Joel and Ellie. As for the plot, I don’t want to go into too much detail to avoid any kind of spoilers.
What I can tell you is that, in principle, it will cover much of the events that took place in The Last of Us Part II. Some changes are expected, but not so many. Consequently, both the ending and the most important moments of the original game should be maintained.
