The Boston Celtics are pretty much one of the top dogs of the NBA this season, and had little to change at the deadline to make them better at the deadline. However, according to Bleacher Report, a couple teams that made moves are now better than the C’s, making Boston fifth in their power rankings.
“It’s just that those have been far less common this season than they were in 2023-24…All this up-and-down play is probably just the result of a reigning champion getting comfortable in cruise control, but with the way other contenders are playing, it’s fair to have some concern about the repeat chances.”
At the deadline, the two moves the Celtics made were trading Jaden Springer, and signing veteran Torrey Craig off waivers. Both were good moves, but they weren’t earth-shattering moves like other teams made.
The Celtics are a respectable 36-16, but a bunch of their losses were winnable or against teams that are much worse than them. If they don’t get their act together by the end of February, their chances of going back-to-back will get slimmer.
