The mixed martial arts community has come together on social media after a tragic story broke out. Former Ultimate Fighter Championship (UFC) fighter, Geane Herrera, died last weekend at the age of 33 in Florida.
Little details of what happened have been revealed, but according to TMZ, the former UFC fighter passed away on Saturday night after being involved in a traffic accident. This was known thanks to an investigation and data obtained by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
Reports from the department indicated that the cause of the accident was because Herrera was driving a motorcycle at high speed and then collided with the back of a car; this resulted in him being thrown against a wall and he motorcycle even caught fire after the collision.
Further details from the incident have not been revealed and his family and friends have not talked or made public any other particularities from what happened, but he is remembered in the mixed martial arts community for what he has done during his competitions.

Geane Herrera was born in the United States but he lived his childhood in South America in Colombia. After spending some time there, he alongside his family moved back to the US, where he began to enter the world of mixed martial arts.
It was at the age of 21 when Geane Herrera made his professional debut in the octagon, obtaining eight victories, without losses. In 2014, he joined the UFC, but would later retire.
It should be noted that, in 2021, after 10 wins and 3 losses, Geane Herrera signed for bare knuckle boxing (BKFC), where he also obtained a good record.
