The tennis world and much more beyond stops and watches when Wimbledon gets underway in London. It is one of the most exciting and revered sporting events on the calendar and it will soon get underway.
Arguably the biggest tennis event of them all, it is certainly the biggest event on grass. Even set against the backdrop of British summer rain which interrupts matches, tennis fans all over the world love Wimbledon.
When you encompass the qualifying rounds as well, there is a huge amount to take in as Wimbledon stretches from July 3 through till July 16 when the grand finals get underway. The early qualifying rounds can often be where the best entertainment is, and where you can see a future star before their names really hit the headlines.
How many rounds of matches are at Wimbledon?
There are seven rounds of action to enjoy at Wimbledon and the first two days, July 3 and July 4, will be taken up by men’s and ladies’ first-round action.
The second round is on July 5 and 6, the third round is on July 7 and 8, and the fourth round is July 9 and 10.
After that, we get to the quarter-finals where things can start to get a lot more tasty. The men’s and ladies’ singles quarterfinals are on July 11 and July 12, but then the program gets less simple to follow.
July 13 sees the Ladies’ singles semifinals as well as the men’s doubles final. July 14 is the men’s singles semifinals, and July 15 hosts the ladies’ singles final and the men’s doubles final.
The final day, July 16, will host the men’s singles final and the ladies’ doubles final. All events begin at 11:00 BST until July 13 when it is 13:00 BST, the same for July 14. Then July 15 and 16 begin at 14:00 BST.
