Before the start of the 2024 MLB season, the Los Angeles Dodgers started as the favorites to reach and win the World Series; a few hours before the start of the Fall Classic, the Californian team confirms that status against the New York Yankees.
According to ESPN BET, the Dodgers come into the World Series as favorites against the New York Yankees after defeating another team from the Big Apple, the New York Mets, in the National League Championship Series in six games.
On the other side, the Bronx Bombers earned their ticket after beating the Cleveland Guardians in five games in the American League.
The World Series will begin this Friday and the first game will be played at the home of the National League champions, Dodger Stadium, and should it be extended to seven games, the Fall Classic should conclude on Saturday, November 2.
Which team is the betting favorite?
As mentioned above, the Dodgers have been the bettors’ favorite since before the start of the current Major League Baseball season.
A few hours before the start of one of the most anticipated World Series in years, the Dodgers-Yankees matchup also features two of the best and most popular players in the game today.
Shohei Ohtani with the Dodgers, and Aaron Judge with the Yankees, are two gunslingers who finished the season with more than 50 home runs each, and it’s one of the many attractions that make this World Series one of the most interesting in decades.
“Dodgers-Yankees is an ideal matchup for us,” said BetMGM betting expert Hal Egeland. “We’ve had low odds on both teams all year, even through some of the Yankees’ rough patches. So either team will end up with a positive outcome for us, barring some one-sided action.”
The betting lines
On the ESPN BET site, the Dodgers come out as the favorites with a betting line of -125 over the Yankees who come out at +105; in other words, the Dogers are favored, but just barely.
In addition, Japan’s Ohtani is the favorite to take the series MVP award at +240 to Judge’s +550.
Dominican Juan Soto is third in line at +600, while the Dogers’ Mookie Betts is fourth at +800.
