The “you can’t see me” seems to have become a reality with John Cena, as the Hollywood actor has not returned to the WWE RAW programming on Netflix since his debut on January 6th.
All indications are that Cena will return for Royal Rumble 2025, where he will attempt to win the Rumble match and earn the opportunity to wrestle for the World Championship in the main event of Wrestlemania 41.
And it’s all a bit of a mess because it came out of John Cena’s own mouth that he was going to dedicate this last year as a professional wrestler to the WWE full time. He put his Hollywood plans on hold, but he only has one appearance this year.
Why is John Cena not on the weekly schedule?
According to PWInsider, Cena is in Budapest, Hungary. He is filming a live-action movie called ‘Matchbox‘ about a line of Mattel toy vehicles.
His return would be at the Rumble Match, as he himself confirmed. Another date he has secured is at the next WWE PLE, Elimination Chamber 2025, which will take place on Saturday, March 1st in Ontario, Canada. We’ll see how this develops with the Royal Rumble just around the corner.
At the time, John Cena had said at a press conference that there would be 36 appearances, so the idea of being full-time with WWE is gradually fading away, but beware, there are still 11 months of the year to go.
A lot of confusion with the fans
Yes, of course wrestling fans are very disappointed to see John Cena on WWE‘s weekly schedule as it was expected. The reality is that there is still a long way to go until the end of the year and he may surprise us, we’ll see if those projects in Hollywood have really been put on hold.

Wrestlemania 41 is still a long way off, but expectations are high, especially with John Cena in his last year as a professional wrestler. We will just have to wait and see what happens after Royal Rumble 2025.
