Everyone is passionate about basketball but San Antonio Spurs star Zach Collins might have taken it too far and he will definitely get a call of the NBA’s after what he did to a referee on Friday’s game against the Sacramento Kings.
Collins was ejected after receiving two technical fouls and as he was leaving the court, Collins, visibly frustrated with the officiating, flipped off the referee, a gesture that quickly went viral.
This outburst reflects the intense emotions athletes often experience during high-stakes games. However, it also likely means Collins will face a fine and possible further disciplinary action from the NBA.
The incident in the middle of the game
This incident underscores the passionate and sometimes controversial nature of professional sports. The game represented that itself at times but it was a large margin in the final score.
The Spurs faced a tough defeat with a final score of 140-113. The Kings were led by DeMar DeRozan, who scored 23 points, and Domantas Sabonis, who contributed 22 points and 16 rebounds.
De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk also added 22 points each, helping the Kings achieve their season-high point total. For the Spurs, Julian Champagnie stood out with a career-high 30 points, including six 3-pointers. However, the team struggled without their rookie star Victor Wembanyama, who was sidelined with a sore lower back.
